SUMMARY:Papermaking Workshop with Mary Milelczik
DESCRIPTION:Join artist Mary Milelzcik for a Papermaking workshop on Sat
 urday\, June 27\, from 10 am to 2:30 pm at the Volcano Art Center in Vol
 cano. Newcomers and Advanced students are welcome.  $85/$80 plus $50 fo
 r fiber pulp\, plant dyes and pigments\, prep\, and supplies.\nThis work
 shop will introduce you to papermaking from learning how to make a mould
  and deckle\, to recycling heavy weight Arches art paper\, adding local 
 plant materials\, dyes and earth pigments to make beautiful one-of-a kin
 d papers. Using a using a household blender and various sized moulds and
  deckles\, you are able to make paper in a variety of sizes\, scrolls\, 
 layered artwork or create a painting with colored pulp. Participants are
  encouraged to bring flowers and plant material to add color\, or other 
 small interesting things to imbed in their paper. Assistance will be pro
 vided for larger more complex projects. You will leave with a basic know
 ledge of papermaking\, instructions on how to make paper at home\, pulp 
 and supply resources\, and a unique variety of handmade papers that youâ
 €™ve created.\nPlants used in this workshop may include lemon grass\, wa
 uke (paper mulberry)\, ginger\, old growth cedar\, homegrown cotton\, ca
 ne grass\, etc. (depending on availability).  To allow for more paper m
 aking time\, the instructor will source\, prepare and cook plant materia
 ls for pulp\, dyes and paint\, in advance of the class.
