SUMMARY:Exhibit: Nalu Builds
DESCRIPTION:Volcano Art Center (VAC) is proud to announce the exhibition
  “Nalu Builds” on display from June 28th – August 10th\, 2025. Th
 e exhibit features handcrafted furniture and functional art using sustai
 nably sourced local hardwoods from the Island of Hawaiʻi.  The opening
  reception will be on Saturday\, June 28th\, from 2pm -4pm. The gallery 
 is open daily\, 9am -5pm in Hawai`i Volcanoes National Park.  While the
  exhibit is free to attend\, park entrance fees apply.\n\nKnown for trop
 ical design with a modern flair\, Nalu Builds is a boutique manufacturer
  located on the Big Island of Hawaiʻi.  Every piece of furniture is cr
 eated using sustainably sourced local woods.  The family owned and oper
 ated team creates both custom heirloom quality\, and large-scale practic
 al works of art that will last for generations.\n\nInspired by the islan
 d style furnishing of his youth in Hawaiʻi as well as his love of mid-c
 entury modern design\, co-owner and lead designer Kevin Coons has create
 d a contemporary tropical aesthetic that grows in popularity.  Kevin co
 llaborates with lead builders\,  Kent Indie\, their team of craftsmen\,
  Louis Silva-Sampaio\, David Wong\, Rick Coons\, and numerous local arti
 sts to bring their unique vision to life. In conjunction with the Nalu B
 uilds Exhibition\, the Volcano Art Center is pleased to present the 3rd 
 biennial juried Volcano Wood Show held at the Niaulani Campus. The team 
 at Nalu Builds will assist in selecting works and designating award winn
 ers.  The Volcano Wood Show opens to the public on Saturday\, July 19th
  with a reception open to the public from 4-6pm that day.  The exhibit 
 continues Wednesday – Sunday\, 10 am – 4 pm at Volcano Art Center Ni
 aulani (19-4074 Old Volcano Rd.) in Volcano Village through August 10th.
 \n\nVAC is currently accepting online submissions for the Volcano Wood S
 how through Monday\, June 30th\, 2025. The show is open to experienced\,
  novice and student woodworkers. Participants are encouraged to create i
 tems including furniture\, sculpture\, bowls and functional items from w
