DESCRIPTION:Volcano Art Center (VAC) is proud to announce its 6th bienni
 al quilt show\, Peace By Piece. The exhibition will be on display at VAC
 ’s Niaulani Campus at 19-4074 Old Volcano Rd. in Volcano Village. Quil
 ters and fiber artists are invited to explore acts of connection created
  through fiber\, fabric\, pattern and stitch. Peace by Piece will be ope
 n for viewing Wednesday - Sunday from 10am - 4pm.\,  from July 18th –
  August 9th 2026.\n\nThis year’s exhibition is juried by Barbara Kurga
 n. A current resident of Hilo\, Kurgan has had a varied career in photog
 raphy\, visual display\, decorating\, and product design. After art scho
 ol\, she became a fashion photographer and then established her own comp
 any\, BK Studio\, which for several years produced art\, directed and st
 yled interior and product photography for clients including House and Ga
 rden\, The New York Times Magazine\, Neiman Marcus\, Dewars\, Pottery Ba
 rn\, Target\, Cowtan and Tout and Brunshweig &amp\; Fils\, among others.
  From there\, she became the Interiors Editor at Home|Style magazine and
  then at Elle Décor. More recently\, she joined Martha Stewart Living O
 mnimedia as Deputy Creative Director and then as Vice President and Desi
 gn Director of Martha Stewart Furniture. Currently\, she is working as a
  creative director and design consultant in the home furnishings industr
 y.\n\n\n\nThe public is welcome to attend the opening reception of Peace
  By Piece on Saturday\, July 18th from 2-4pm at VAC's Niaulani Campus in
  Volcano Village.  The reception will take place in Dietrich Varez Hall
  at 19-4074 Old Volcano Rd.\n\nParticipate in a Fabric pop-up event!  J
 uly 25th and 26th\n\n\nThe Volcano Art Center highlights textile artists
   in a special pop-up event on July 25th and 26th\, held in conjunction
  with Peace by Piece\, the 2026 quilt show.\n\n\n\nCreate A Needle Book!
  \nCreate a needle book with Lisa Louise Adams and Robin Scanlon on Sund
 ay\, August 2nd\, from 1pm -4pm.  In this hands-on workshop\, you’ll 
 learn how to sew your own needle book using upcycled fabrics—perfect f
 or organizing needles\, pins\, and small sewing essentials. No experienc
 e necessary. Just bring your curiosity and any favorite fabric scraps yo
 u’d like to incorporate. Cost is $65 / $60 for VAC members plus a $25
