Jazz in the Forest: Christmas Jazz with Jean Pierre Thoma & Jeannine Guillory-Kane

The Volcano Art Center’s Jazz in the Forest series continues on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 5:30pm at Volcano Art Center Niaulani Campus in Volcano Village. The evening features Jean Pierre Thoma and the Jazztones and Jeannine Guillory-Kane highlighting classics of the holiday season.
Jean Pierre Thoma is a world-traveled professional musician on flute, saxophone, clarinet, and piano, with experience throughout America, France, Japan, India, and Israel. He holds 2 master’s degrees in music and has been a public and private school teacher as well as a member of numerous jazz and classical ensembles, such as the Maui and Marin Symphonies. Leader of “The Jazztones”: “Raga Jazz” (with Sarangi, synth guitar & bass): member of “Royal Kona Harp Ensemble” (3 harps w/ 2 flutes & winds): “Volcano Trio” (2 flutes & piano): performer at Holy Cross Church in choir & as instrumentalist; and pianist at restaurants, and charity performances at Hospice and Life Care Centers. Now a music teacher in Hilo at The Pacific Academy of Music, and the Kukuau Studio, he happily lives in Hilo, Hawai‘i.
Jeannine Guillory-Kane is an acclaimed vocalist in Jazz, Reggae, Pop and Rhythm Blues that lends to a strong, versatile sound and energy that gets her audience and peers alike to stand up and applaud her amazing voice and on-stage presence. She is a “must see” if you see her name on a billboard!

Jeannine has performed at venues around the world including stops in Europe, South America, and the United States. Stage performances include an appearance at the renowned Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, the Volcano Jazz Festival on the Big Island and recently appeared at the world-famous Blue Note Jazz Club on Oahu. Was chosen as the “Diva of Jazz” here in Hawaii. Her resume is accented as a former vocalist with the internationally known reggae/jazz group “Groundation” which continues to tour the globe.
You can catch Jeannine as she performs up and down the Kohala Coast at varied venues each month. She is currently in collaboration with several artists in the music industry to record a new CD. Tickets are $20 for VAC members ($25 non-members)! Ticket holders will be able to purchase beer, wine, as well as pupus. Tickets are available for sale online at www.volcanoartcenter.org, at VAC’s Administration Office in Volcano Village and VAC Gallery in Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park. The last day to purchase tickets online is Friday, December 13. After that, tickets will be sold at VAC Gallery & at the door if they are not sold out. Tickets will be held at Will Call on the day of the show. OR, you may pick them up any day before the show at Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus Administrative Office, Monday through Friday, 9am-5pm.
