The “Bookbinding Trio” workshop takes place on Saturday, September 3, from 9am – 12pm at Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus. Cost for this workshop is $35 or $32 for VAC members plus a $10 supply fee.
Spend a morning with Charlene Asato creating three different book structures. Learn how to make an origami fold book, a tassel book and a fishbone fold book. Visually appealing, these books are sure to bring delight! Prior bookbinding experience is not necessary.
Tools to bring: cutting mat or dense cardboard, X-acto knife with new #11 blade or similar tool, metal-edged ruler, bone folder or non-serrated butter knife, pencil, eraser, glue stick, scissors, discarded catalog or magazine for gluing surface. Optional: scoring board (very helpful), portable paper trimmer, quilter’s rule, rotary cutter, paper punches, rubber stamps. Any art supplies such as colored pencils, crayons, markers, watercolor, photographs for collaging, scraps of decorative paper, etc.
Asato avidly pursues book arts, paper arts, photography, calligraphy and doll arts. Her books have been in many juried shows, locally, nationally and internationally.
