Zentangle® Inspired Art Class: Artist Inspired with Lydia Meneses

Our world-wide Zentangle® community was inspired by two creatively bold artists; Gustav Klimt and Keith Haring. CZTs from all over the world created amazing tiles using the artists’ bold expressive line movements. During our Zentangle session I’ll share some fun ideas I’ve learned to mingle their styles with Zentangle art.
Gustav Klimt (July 14, 1862-February 6, 1918) from Austrian was a symbolist painter. Klimt is noted for his elegant bold color paintings, murals and works in various media, primary subject was the female. Klimt’s elegant style takes our Hollibaugh tangle, pattern, to a whole new level.
Keith Haring (May 4, 1958-February 16, 1990) was born in Reading, Pennsylvania. His father was instrumental in encouraging young Haring’s interest in art by spending time with his son as they both created drawings. Haring is an American “Pop” artist, whose bold primal strokes and graffiti-like work grew out of the New York City street culture in the ‘80. We will practice Haring’s “non-touch” technique to create our Haring inspired tile.
Students Kit: Official Zentangle tiles, PN black pen, Sakura white and gold gel pens.
Class will be guided with Zentangle’s traditional ceremony and method.

This class is open to all levels, no Zentangle or art experience necessary. Participants are welcome to bring their favorite drawing tools. Please bring a snack to share. Cost is $35/$30 VAC Members plus a $15 fee, inclusive of supplies.
