Sunday Clay – High Fire! with Erik Wold & Emily Herb

“Wet work” with clay – six Sundays: March 12 – April 16 at VAC
No class on April 23 (to allow time for pieces to dry before firing)
Glazing on April 30 at VAC and/or local pottersʻ studios
Potluck and kiln opening on May 7 at a local potterʻs studio
Cost for either session is $185/$166 for VAC Members plus a $13 materials fee for 6 lbs of clay, including glazes and firing. Additional clay will be available for purchase.
These classes will be an introduction to working with and firing mid-range stoneware. Emphasis will be on learning and refining wheel throwing skills, and the possibilities of stoneware glazes. Eight registration slots are open to “wheel throwers”, and three additional places will be open to “hand builders”. Beginners as well as continuing students are welcome. Erik will focus on making work for stoneware reduction firing, and Emily will offer techniques for decorating and glazing stoneware for electric kiln firing.
