Volcano Art Center is proud to present Papa ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi: Part Three, a beginning Hawaiian language course taught by University of Hawai‘i at Hilo instructor ʻĀlika Guerrero. Papa ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi Part Three will be offered for 8 weeks every Thursday night beginning November 9, with no class on Thanksgiving, from 5:30pm – 7pm. This basics class will focus on expanding simple vocabulary, conversation, grammar, and sentence structure. Some Hawaiian language experience is preferred.

Classes will be held at Volcano Art Center’s Ni‘aulani Campus. Fee for the class is $90 and $80 for VAC members. The required workbook for the class is Nā Kai ʻEwalu and it is available at the UH Hilo bookstore.

16830797_10211756474415690_2068896324257552211_nʻĀlika holds a B.A. in Hawaiian Studies, History, and Anthropology from the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo, and is currently pursuing his M.A. in Hawaiian Language and Literature. He has been teaching community Hawaiian language courses for 3 years.
