Thursday Night at the Center: “From Gloom to Bloom” presentation by Susan Scott

Susan Scott: a presentation “From Gloom to Bloom” sailing to and working in Palmyra (the subject of my book “Call Me Captain”) and also about my art work made from marine debris collected during my work on Midway. Palmyra and Midway are “book-end” atolls both significant to Hawai’i’s past and present.

Susan is a marine biologist who writes a weekly column called “Ocean Watch” for the Honolulu Star-Advertiser and has written six books about nature in Hawai’i. Susan’s newest book, Call Me Captain, is a memoir about her work and voyage from Honolulu to Palmyra Atoll on her 37-foot sailing vessel, Honu.  Published by the University of Hawaii Press.
